The Living Museum is an experimental digital interface that explores the application of artificial intelligence in cultural heritage engagement. Using content from the British Museum’s digital collection (from which it is not affiliated), the project investigates how natural language processing and large language models (LLMs) can facilitate personalized and interactive experiences for both museum visitors and remote users.
The system enables users to curate exhibits through natural language queries and engage in AI-generated dialogues with artifacts. This approach integrates historical metadata with broader contextual knowledge, providing a dynamic alternative to traditional museum interpretation methods.
The study examines the potential of AI to enhance cultural heritage accessibility and educational initiatives.
